So there is a local joint here that has been around for nearly 30 years I think. It's a country music bar with a huge dance floor. Been going there on and off every now and then for awhile. All ages attend from 21 to 81. And let me say, the place never lets me down on something I haven't seen yet.
If you get there early you have the wonderful opportunity to watch as people go from stone cold sober to slobbering drunk. Then the desperation nears as closing time approaches.
The girls say at the beginning of the night - "I'm gonna get me a man!", "He thinks I am home with the kids.", "I'm gonna find that no good, cheating SOB!", "We don't need any men, we're here on girls night to dance!"
Girls at the end of the night - "Why can't I find a man?", "I just want to go home to be with my kids." "I can't believe I caught him out here with her!", "Hey girls, I'm going home with Steve, he's hot, check you guys later!"
The boys say at the beginning of the night - "I'm so gonna find a hottie and get laid!"
Boys at the end of the night - "She'll do, I'm gonna get laid!"
Ummm do you see the difference? Yep thought you would.
You look around and you have all these different characters.
The group of hot young girls, the group of young hot boys, the fat girls club, the old pervert men, the newly divorcees or singles, the married person out with single friend/s, the middle aged guys trying to be younger, the middle aged women who truly don't give a f* anymore, the desperate older women, the cougars, the cougar bait, the gold diggers, etc. Everyone is working an angle.
Me and mine, we go to people watch and actually dance. So while walking through the bar my friend says, GLO the fat chicks are looking at me like a T-bone steak!
I turned around and said,,,,, YOU GOTTA DANCE WITH THE FAT ONES TO GET TO THE RIGHT ONES!!!!
I bet in 20 years the same old people will be out there, I will let you know.

Big Mistake
We all make them, we all pay for them. The key is to learn from them and not repeat history. Also, remorse goes a long way. If you aren't remorseful then you don't think you made a mistake and will do it again and again.
Being remorseful, however, does not mean constantly beat yourself up over your poor decision. Besides, if you can't forgive yourself then no one else will either. If your mistake disappointed someone or many, just keep in mind they are not perfect, have probably disappointed you and more than likely will sometime in the future.
You have to, have to look at the mistake and figure out what caused you to make it and how can you avoid in the future. That is really, really hard to do. It's way easier to just say, "I don't know". You do know and you have to admit it to yourself, truly.
You will definitely look back and think, why you did what you did. However, circumstances at that time are usually a contributing factor and circumstances change.

SKEERED!!
NOUN – means more than just scared!!!
Here is a story for all of you and those of you who don’t know me well enough to be damn SKEERED of me and my family.
Those of you who read this daily and think I am not noticing you or what you are doing, think again.
Today would have been my mom and dad’s 38th anniversary, but they divorced when I was 16. The particulars don’t matter now, it was a long time ago.
I hear people out there all the time talking about how crazy they are and they will jack somebody up, etc. OH PUHLEASE!!! People you don’t know crazy like I know crazy. Steve says it’s Louisiana crazy. Meaning you are FROM there, not you moved there. Well my mom is FROM there and so was my raging Cajun Granddaddy!!! Meaning my mom inherited and learned from the best and I have quite a good little knowledge myself.
See Granddaddy was a raging alcoholic. Very sad. He was an identical twin like my boys. His twin brother died. Granddaddy never could recover from the sever pain of losing his brother. I will tell you some stories later about him but right now want to tell you this one. You needed to know some background to know where this comes from…..
Mom and dad divorced and dad was given the amount he was to pay in child support, even though he felt I was an “adult” at 16 and he shouldn’t have to help mom take care of me. In all honesty I think he gave mom money a total of maybe 3 times.
This one time in particular mom had called him and said she needed some money for me for some reason, who knows – dancing, cheerleading, school whatever. Dad said ok. He always just said ok. Let me say this, Dad lived with my mom around 18 years and you would have thought he knew better than to just tell mom ok and think she would let it go.
You see if my mom tells you to do something, UMMMM you do it unless you don’t have use of your arms or legs are dead or in a coma or in jail…..get what I am saying. If you don’t do what she tells you, then well let me tell you she will make you wish you had.
Now I am unsure of the specifics on if dad said a day/time he would give her the money but apparently he didn’t follow through with what he said and I am pretty sure mom spoke to him at least one more time to give him a chance to do what she told him. There is none of this calling 100x , pleading, begging, threatening or whatever, that’s not how it, no that’s not how mom, works.
Well he didn’t and here we go.
So mom, puts her little self (yes all of 5’2” and 95 lbs) in her little red truck she had at the time and drives to where dad’s shop was. Dad had worked there for about 10+ years. There was a bar across the street from the shop, think it was the fancy “WHY NOT” bar. Mom pulled in and parked her truck facing the front door of dad’s shop, which also had a big garage door on it.. She just sat there and started reading her book. The big garage door is open and then she sees my dad, his brother and their boss just standing in the doorway looking at her. Then they shut the door down about half way.
Apparently at this time Dad has a restraining/protective order against my mom.
Yes I said against my mom. So I guess he thought this would prevent mom from
“getting” to him. This restraining order came from an incident in which somehow my dad got two black eyes : )…… I am guessing Dad should have blocked better but hey I wasn’t there it’s just a guess.
Mom said for about 30 minutes, every few minutes or so dad or one of the other guys would look under the garage door to see if she was still there. She said she could see their feet run back out from under the door.
Now a policeman shows up and knocks on mom’s truck window. She rolls it down and said hello. The policeman said Ms. Shepherd, your ex-husband has called us and informed us he has a restraining/protective order against you and you can’t be within 1K feet from his person. Keep in mind he is giggling while he is saying this. My mom asked him how far was she from Dad. Policeman said well I am pretty sure you are outside the 1K feet. She said well I don’t need to get any closer. He just needs to give me some child support like he was ordered and he told me he would. Policeman said well OK then and left.
I am pretty sure it was THAT night Dad found the money and time to bring it by the house. He told my mom later that he always thought she was capable of doing such things but that day she proved it!!!
Some of you may not understand or get this but if you do then you know what it’s like to be SKEERED!!! As hell!!!
Don’t make me SKEER you, don’t forget I am watching you and I got your number!

Wow, I just realized my last post was in October!! You might ask, "where the hell have you been?"
But, those of you who know me, know exactly where I have been.
Thanksgiving, Birthdays, Christmas and New Year's all revolve around "schedules" with the children and family etc. Basically not a moment to breathe.

*Halloween, trick or treating and a call to my dad on his Bday
*a finalized divorce
*very close friends' wedding that Mr Mensss officiated and rocked it
*an engagement - friends
*Thanksgiving awesome meal with family and little bit of Wii Michael Jackson style
*twins 10th birthday party, yes they had two parties, one at Hooter's (yes it can be seen as I am a terrible mother or the coolest mother, take your pick)
*Christmas - week before all the kids at home, week after most of kids at other parent's houses
*family member head lice incident - funny none of us got it????
*family member staph infection (unnecessary) incident - hope to NEVER have to go through again.
*puppies - four born to Gigi.
*New Year's eve and good toast.
*Very close friends have huge traumatic event that I know with love and support they will get right through it to the future.
Whew thank goodness it's a New Year and all that is done.
I know that there will be tons of new adventures in 2011. Some great and some not so great.
